There are only two thing better than reading a good book:
- Reading two good books in a row
- Reading three good books in a row :)
I felt like I’d been in a bit of a reading slump over the summer. It’s not that I wasn’t reading, but it’s that none of the authors really blew me away with their stories.
That all changed when fall rolled around because amazing thrillers were surfacing left and right! These three authors kept me up until the late hours of the night reading… mainly because I couldn’t put the book down, but sometimes because I was scared to close my eyes <- the sign of great thrillers!
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
The storyline reminded me of The Girl on the Train. It’s a mind bender that after you got to the end (and find out who did what) you think “well duh!”, but somehow never saw it coming before. Don’t worry, this isn’t the kind of scary where you will need to keep the lights on at night, but it’s the kind of scary that makes you think, “how well do I really know someone”.
Good as Gone by Amy Gentry
I will admit, I got a tiny bit lost in the middle of it since there were so many different names thrown around (maybe keep a little list to help you follow along), but once I reread a few pages and got back on tract, I devoured the book! This one really exceeded my expectations and had a very unique, unpredictable storyline. Think- The Girls by Emma Cline crossed with Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
I’ve already gushed over this book on the blog a few weeks ago, but I couldn’t resist adding it to this list! This book definitely made me want to keep the lights on at night and triple check my door was locked. It’s the perfect vacation read, as long as you aren’t taking a cruise :)
