Yes, funemployment is just a nice way of saying unemployment. There… I said it.
As a recap for my new readers out there (Heyyyy), I used to live in DC until my boyfriend got his dream job in Miami a few weeks ago. We packed up shop and moved down to the Sunshine State (where I’m originally from) and as he goes to his job every day, I’m home job hunting and blogging. AKA: unemployed.
One would think blogging and job hunting would take up the whole day (like I naively did), but for some reason I’m basically done with those two tasks by 10am.
When you’re working 9-5, all you want is a day off. But now with my plethora of days off and 12 hours to kill waiting for my boyfriend to return home each day, I’m fairly convinced funemployment isn’t for me.
Let’s break my day down, shall we??
PRO: Loads of “me” time. Insert nail painting, long showers, and extra cups of coffee in the morning.
CON: I’m pretty much over “me” time by about 11am and am ready for social interaction of any kind.
PRO: I have loads of time to try new recipes in the kitchen.
CON: I then end up eating all day long as I make said recipe (ex: the four cookies I consumed in minutes after making these delicious treats)
PRO: I can go to the pool or beach during a beautiful workday!
CON: I don’t have anyone to go with sooo it gets quite lonely… books are only so good for so long.
PRO: I have loads of time to work on my blog!
CON: I have no one to take photos of me so I end up being that weird girl at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon on her balcony with a tripod… the workers building the new high rise next to us found it very humorous.
With that, I’ve decided I need to make a schedule and some rules! I need to organize my time so when I decide to “focus on blogging” I actually focus on my own blog and not surf through others. I need to set a rule like “must get out of the house every day” because with a fridge stocked with goodies and a gym downstairs, I have no real reason to branch out and then realize I’ve gone three days only talking to my boyfriend and myself…
Have you ever been “funemployed”? What are some tips you have to staying motivated and excited about your day?
