The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman sat on my bookshelf for far too long. So long in fact, my mother even read it before I did! And mind you, my mother does not read very often.
That is why this book cover looks so well loved… she may have fallen asleep on it a few times :)
If this book is gathering dust on your bookshelf then run over there right now, brush off the dust, and start reading because this book is one of my favorite I’ve read all year!
It transports you to the little island of Janus off the coast of Australia and takes you on an emotional roller coaster. It’s so beautifully written that I’m not even sure in the end who I agreed with, who I disagreed with, and who I felt sad for.
If I had to sum this book up in one phrase, it would be “a heartbreakingly, beautiful historical fiction novel”. The author does such an amazing job painting the scene and describing the characters that I was instantly drawn in and may have shed a few tears at the end :) It deserves a 5 out of 5 star review!
When you pick up this book be prepared to settle in for a few hours, so get comfy! I curled up in my new, super soft MakeMeChic cardigan. In Miami, this sweater counts as my winter coat. It’s big and warm and I love how it drapes down the front like a waterfall.
Have you read The Light Between Oceans? What did you think of it?
