When was the last time you did something your younger self loved to do?
Coloring? Reading? Doing a puzzle? Playing a board game?
My friend gave me a puzzle last week and for the last two days I’ve just been staring at it. Life was too busy and I had a dozen of things I should be doing instead of playing around.
After an abnormally stressful day at the office, about 12 hours straight, I decided last night that enough was enough.
I poured myself a (large) glass of wine and dumped out all the pieces!
For the next two hours straight I was completely absorbed.
With every piece that I put together I would feel a small accomplishment. It sounds dorky, but going back to something I loved doing as a child made me feel so much calmer.
*Disclaimer: The two glasses of wine may have helped this feeling as well :)
When was the last time you did something your younger self loved to do? Force yourself to put your to do list, schedule, and worries down for a moment and spend some time doing something different. An old tried and true.
The best part about all this? It’s a 1000 piece puzzle and I only got through about 1/5 of it last night. That means my weekend will be busy :)
Do you think I’ll seem weird if I tell friends, “No, sorry I can’t hang out this weekend. I have a hot date with my puzzle”?
*Note to self: Buy more wine!
