It’s rare that I wake up without a plan. Usually it’s go-go-go from the moment my alarm goes off in the morning to the moment I can’t keep my eyes open for one more minute at night.
Some people love to sleep in, but I’m a total early bird. I feel like there will be a number of people who won’t be able to relate to anything about my “perfect morning” until the mimosas, but maybe a few of you early risers will understand :)
6am: Alarm clock goes off which also triggers the lights to slowly come on. There is already (somehow) bright sunlight streaming through the windows and a strong, hot Nespresso coffee waiting for me on my bedside table.
6:15am: Reading an amazing book over my coffee. There will be a refill (or two) at some point during this time.
7:30am: Getting ready for a run around Miami with a friend as I blast some of my favorite empowering tunes, such as Fight Song by Rachel Platten.
8am: Meeting up with said friend for a long run wearing my favorite new running pants.
9:30am: As I finish the run I will be greeted by the smiling boyfriend with a very strong mimosa (and a cool towel). With my workout complete, now it’s time to celebrate with bubbly.
10am: Showering and getting ready for brunch at La Boulangerie in Key Biscayne.
10:30am: Make that an early brunch because I’m starving. There will be loads of baked goods involved in my perfect breakfast, such as the guava cheese croissant and fresh baked bread. I ran for a reason and carbs are #2 on my perfect morning list, right after coffee and right before mimosas :) I may even need a guava cheese croissant to-go as a snack later in the day.
Side note: I know a guava and cheese croissant sounds weird, but it’s a winning combination!
11:30am: Drive to the state park at the end of Key Biscayne for a beach walk down to the beautiful lighthouse.
My perfect morning would involve no phone, no computer, no concern of work emails or calls I need to return. The only electronics I want to come across are speakers for my music and my Apple Watch to track my run.
My “First, I need coffee” pajamas are my new go-to sleepwear from MakeMeChic. So cozy, SO accurate for how I am in the mornings, and only $16!
Did I mention, having fresh cut flowers by my bed is a must, too?? Nothing is more beautiful to look at in the morning. The boyfriend surprised me with these last week and they bloomed perfectly! He got extra brownie points for that.
When I think about it… I have parts of this “perfect morning” every day. There is time lounging in bed over a cup of coffee, there is an early morning run… and although it may not be very sunny right now when I wake up, I know that daylight savings is just around the corner to change that!
We can all have our perfect morning any day we choose, we just need to stop and appreciate it more.
So on this rushed Monday morning I plan to take a few extra minutes sipping my cup of coffee, reading a chapter in my new book and starting my day relaxed and happy.
How is your Monday going?
