I’m not really an “app girl”, but every now and again there are a few that stick with me. Here are my four favorite iPhone apps right now (p.s. they’re all free!):
This is one of the coolest news apps out there, in my humble opinion. There are so many different apps for newspapers, online magazines, etc. This is an app that aggregates it all into a simple, clean look. All you do is select different topics of interests and then voila! An endless supply of current new stories, pictures, and videos related to all sorts of topics. With each “flip” (done by sliding your finger up the screen), you are presented with another article! You get an image and a little bit about the story. If it interests you, tap the screen and it will take you to the whole article. If it doesn’t, just keep flipping! It’s as easy as that.
You know those times that your friend says, “You have to try this restaurant!”, and then all of a sudden the next day you can’t remember what it was for the life of you? That’s what this app is there for. It keeps a list of random things for you so you don’t forget (hence the app name). It’s perfect to record different bars you want to try, books you want to read, or recipes you want to attempt to make. This app remembers them all, so you don’t have to.
Order delivery right to your home from local restaurants with just the click of the button! I hate calling restaurants to order delivery (it’s the introvert in me). They never seem to hear my order correctly, they can’t understand my address, or they scream my credit card number back to me over the phone loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear. Seamless solves all of those problems, and more. They give you the time it will take to deliver, ratings of different restaurants, and it safely saves all your information so you only have to enter it once. Commonly restaurants pop up on this list that I didn’t even know existed 5 minutes from my house. This delivery service makes me very happy, but my credit card very sad. I hate to admit it, but I will sometimes order food while I’m still at the gym so that the moment I get home I have a nice man knocking at my door waiting to hand me a delicious feast!
I love listening to audio books (as you can probably tell by now). I listen to them on my car ride to work, when I’m getting ready to go out, when I’m folding laundry… literally whenever possible. I used to just buy audio books via iTunes, each costing about $25. Until one day the boyfriend mentioned Audible to me. Sometimes I’m not great with change, but let me tell you, this was the best change ever! I get two audio books a month for less than the price of one! And, when you sign up for the first time, you get one free! I can’t recommend Audible enough.
What are your go-to apps? I’m still in desperate need of a good to-do list app! Any suggestions?
