When I made my summer reading list, this book was the one I was most excited about! I’m sure a lot of you read Paula Hawkins first book, The Girl on the Train, and if you were like me then you loved it! That was my main reason for being so excited about her new book.
I have to say Into the Water is either as good, or maybe even a bit better, than The Girl on the Train! I know… HUGE statement there.
Here are three reasons this should be the next book you pick up. Don’t worry, there are no spoilers!
1. Paula Hawkins is a brilliant writer
She is one of the best suspense writers out there, IMHO. An eire setting, eccentric characters, and mysterious deaths makes this a page turner and a must read. I will admit, I was a bit concerned she could be a one hit wonder like some authors, but she proved me wrong. I can’t wait until her next novel!
2. Character development is on point
One of Paula Hawkins’ best writing skills is her ability to development her characters so well. Her use of internal monologues is so unique, telling, and informative about every character. In this book she jumped from each characters POV and lets them tell part of the story, which in my mind made the story so much more complete.
One warning: There are A LOT of different characters to keep up with in this book. I wish I had made a family tree at the beginning of everyone mentioned. Do yourself a favor and pay close attention to names! You have been warned.
3. Unexpected twists and turns on every page
This is one of the reasons I love to read thrillers, you never know what is going to happen on the next page. Every time I thought I had an idea of what happened I instantly realized I was wrong and there were three new turns up ahead. This book will not only keep your interest. but will probably keep you up at night too. But don’t worry, that won’t last too long since you are bound to devour this in just a few days like I did. I never saw the ending coming!
Have you read Into the Water yet? What did you think about it?
