Words can’t describe how happy I am that it’s Friday! I’m sure most of you (all of you) agree :)
The best thing about Fridays is knowing that you have TWO WHOLE DAYS to do whatever you want! But… one of the worst things is getting to Sunday night and feeling like you got nothing accomplished.
Here are my five tricks to making sure I have a fun but productive weekend so that when Monday morning rolls around, I wake up and feel ready to tackle five more work days!
1) Make a to-do list
It doesn’t matter what’s on the to-do list, it could be “go to happy hour” or “vacuum the living room”, but makes sure to make a list of things you want to get done and do them! Then you can look back at all the things you got done over the weekend and feel accomplished :)
2) Keep a consistent sleep schedule
Don’t stay out until 2am on a Saturday night and wake up at 2pm on Sunday. You need to stick to a similar sleeping pattern on the weekends as you do on the weekdays to keep your body in sync. Going to bed an hour later won’t throw you off too much, just make sure that you get a solid 8 hours of sleep and don’t spend all day in bed.
3) Get outdoors
All I can think of Monday through Friday as I stare out my office window is how badly I wish I could be outside in the sunshine…. So enjoy being able to run around in it outdoors on the weekend! Go for a walk, run, bike ride, or lay out by the pool. Your body needs sunshine and fresh air!
4) Clean your house
Dishes and laundry can easily pile up Monday through Friday, but make sure that you get it cleaned up during the weekend. Starting Monday morning off with no clean underwear to wear to work is never fun.
5) See friends
The weekend is the time you can hang out with friends and not worry about checking your work email. Go to the beach, have a dinner party, or watch a movie. Enjoy socializing with people you don’t get to see every day. That way, if you can’t make Tuesday night happy hour because you got off work late, at least you can plan to meet up with everyone Saturday morning at SoulCycle!
There are dozens of ways to have a productive weekend where you get to relax, but also feel accomplished. What are your tips?
