Ever since the boyfriend and I moved to Miami, we’ve been obsessed with juices.
Either fresh watermelon juice from little Havana or beet juice from Pura Vida on Miami Beach, every weekend morning we wake up with juice on the mind.
Maybe it’s the warm weather, maybe it’s the fresh fruit everywhere… whatever it is, it’s become a habit.
But at least it’s a healthy habit :)
Hayneedle is an online store selling everything from home furnishing, decor, and outdoor furniture. And killer Sunpentown juicing machines!
We’re still experimenting with different combos, but here are the five things I’ve learned after a week of juice making:
1) Include ginger in every drink.
Ginger is great for you and adds a nice spice to any juice combo.
2) Give all the fruits and veggies a real good washin’.
These things come from the dirt, trees, and have been touched by about ten people before they’ve made it into your kitchen. Get out a scrubber and add some elbow grease to make sure they are extra clean.
3) Try new fruits and veggies.
This prickly pear was a tasty addition that we’ve never tried before. Juicing is the perfect reason to pick up random produce you pass in the grocery store and juice their tasty insides out.
4) Never juice in whites.
Beets are great, but don’t mix well with white clothes… found out the hard way. You will need to make sure to factor in about 5 minutes of deep cleaning your juicer after every use (I usual do this while I sip the tasty juice I made). I suggest including an apron in this activity :)
5) If it fits in the juicer, juice it!
Carrots? Add them! Kale? Throw in a handful! Mint? Heck yes! Celery? Done!
This morning was a beet, lemon, apple, and ginger morning.
Do you have a juicer? Share any great juice combos below, please! I need a new recipe for tomorrow morning :)
