These last two weeks have been beyond hectic for me (hence why I haven’t posted since Monday… sorry everyone!). When work gets crazy it’s so easy to get caught up in it all, even during the weekend, and never really take a step back and breath.
When life gets like this I end not getting anything done that my future self would thank me for (doing laundry doesn’t count… although I do need to do that). I’m talking about real things that will help to improve yourself down the road. Things that are purely selfish, but in a productive way!
This weekend I’m going to make it a mission to complete one, three, or ALL of these! I want this to be the weekend my future self can look back on and be proud of (unlike those weekends filled with tv, wine, and junk food).
Here are a few ideas if you’re wanting to join in the fun as well:
Create a budget for next month – This month, with my trip to the Bahamas, hasn’t been the best 30 days for my wallet, so I’m going to set a very strict budget for next month. We’ll see if I can actually stick to it…
Update your resume/LinkedIn profile – Even if you aren’t actively looking for a job, it’s important to keep this up to date! You never know when you may need to send it to someone or someone may reach out to you via LinkedIn with an opportunity you would have never known about.
Go for a long run – Keeping up with workouts is an easy thing to let slide when your days get busy but it’s so important to stay on top of it! Signing up for a race always helps me stay motivated to go on long runs during the weekend. Your future self will thank you!
Learn a new skill – I have had my Nikon D5200 for almost 6 months and still have not really learned how to use it (I know… shame on me). This weekend I’m going to spend some time reading through my 300 page manual and watching some YouTube videos to learn how to up my picture game. My pictures are really in need of some help.
Read a book – An educational book that is! Reading fun fiction novels is great, but challenge yourself this weekend to pick up an educational read instead. Maybe this, or this! Find a book that will help you excel and not just entertain you for a few hours.
What are you doing this weekend that your future self will thank you for?
