We are all creatures of habit, especially when something is delicious :) At least that’s the case for me.
Sometimes we need to treat ourselves to something we really love and crave. And when it’s healthy and tasty, it’s a win-win!
My blog took the back seat as I ran around Breckenridge for the past few days.
What’s funny is that I’ve never taken a vacation to somewhere cold before. Whenever we did family vacations growing up it would be to warm places, snow free!
Last weekend was the boyfriend’s birthday and we ended up booking a spontaneous trip to Breckenridge, Colorado! We had friends who were going and had an extra room in their Airbnb. It was a no brainer to jump on the earliest flight we could find to join them!
I’m not a spontaneous person. This comes in handy when making sure there are always groceries in the fridge and I’m on time for appointments. But it’s not handy when the boyfriend wants to randomly drop everything and head to the beach for a day.
I’m a creature of habit.
I’ve been having a bit of writers block lately on Anchored to Sunshine and I haven’t posted on Instagram for over a week-ish. But finally, last night as I was standing under the warm waterfall of my shower, this post came to me.
Where do you feel most content and at peace?
It’s easy to fall into a rut when it comes to activities in your city. You’ve figured out the best dinner spot. Know your go-to takeout Thai restaurant. You have the perfect sports bar to watch the game at (poor Falcons). And you rarely change your caffeine-fix pit stop location every morning.
I was stuck in a exploration rut. I live in Brickell. I walk to work (3 blocks). I can walk to Publix and CVS. I have dozens of restaurants all within a few blocks of my house. So as you can probably tell, it’s pretty easy to never have to travel more than 6 blocks.
My birthday is in 3 days! How on earth is that even possible??
I swear we were just celebrating Christmas, I blinked and now it’s February! The days have flown by so fast in fact I just realized I have not posted on my blog this whole week. Hopefully this life lately post will get you all up to speed.
In April, the boyfriend and I are headed to Costa Rica! His friends are getting married and I’m going along for the fun :)
Although it’s still a few months away, I’m already starting to organize the trip (and go to the gym more).
When packing for a trip, what you don’t bring is just as important as what you do bring.
Notice it’s been a bit quiet on Anchored to Sunshine these past few weeks?
Sometimes, there just isn’t time. And I’m learning to be ok with that. I would rather produce engaging posts you all want to see, then throw a few words in the screen and post just for the sake of posting.
If you are a blogger, then you know how hard it is to balance it all. If you aren’t a blogger, then just think about how hard it is to do a hobby or even get to the gym during the week. Sometimes it just isn’t in the cards.
It’s the time of New Year’s resolutions, new gym memberships, healthy eating, and so on. Some of these changes will last a week, some a month, and maybe one or two will last the whole year!
Did you know it only takes 21 days to create a habit? If you started on Jan. 1st, then you’re already 5 days in!
We have all reflected on the last 365 days and planned for the next 365 ahead. Resolutions have been written, goals set, promises made, and maybe even a new gym membership signed :)
But the first day back to work after a long holiday can be exhausting and it’s important to remind yourself that you can handle anything thrown your way because you are a #girlboss!
Here are 10 quotes to add some extra pep in your step as you head into the first official working day of 2017:
I always find how my readers react to my posts a bit unpredictable.
Days I haven’t prepared a post and that little blogging voice in my head makes me feel bad, I jump on the computer and frantically pull something together that I’m not super proud of. And BAM, loads of traffic!
But then there are days I slave over a post and I take some of my favorite photos or write what I think will really resonate with readers. And FLOP, the traffic is pathetic.
Because of this, I figured I would give those posts from the latter example a second chance at life before 2016 is over!
My father texted me after my procedure, jokingly asking, “Are you going to write a post called ‘How blogging saved my life’?”
I laughed because I was literally thinking the exact same thing.
I won’t lie, Christmas cards can be exhausting! Especially when you have dozens to do and realize it’s already the 13th of December! Eek
I spend so much time picking out the perfect cards to send all around the US to family and friends, but when it comes time to seal them up and pop them in the mail, it becomes a mad dash.
This year I decided to spend just as much time picking out the card as I would picking out what would go on the outside.
Remember that time your best friend stayed up all night with you as you cried over an ex-boyfriend? Or gave you the reality check you needed when you were picking out a dress you thought was perfect for formal, but really it was a hot mess?
Your friends deserve a huge thanks for all that they put up with throughout the year and Christmas is the perfect time to show that appreciation!
