My blog took the back seat as I ran around Breckenridge for the past few days.
What’s funny is that I’ve never taken a vacation to somewhere cold before. Whenever we did family vacations growing up it would be to warm places, snow free!
Last weekend was the boyfriend’s birthday and we ended up booking a spontaneous trip to Breckenridge, Colorado! We had friends who were going and had an extra room in their Airbnb. It was a no brainer to jump on the earliest flight we could find to join them!
After a horrible travel experience (I guess I should have expected it since we were flying Frontier) we finally made it at 1am on Saturday morning. Given our 6 hour delay, we had to make the most of the rest of the time there.
4 shots of espresso (highly recommend The Crown on Main Street for a breakfast sandwich, too) and 5 layers of clothing later, we were on snowmobiles zipping around the mountains. If you ever go to Breckenridge, I 100% recommend checking out the Prospector Tour with White Mountain Tours. They were great and the route they took us on was beautiful. They also separated the families from the groups with just adults, so we got to go on the fast tracks.
You know that feeling you get after running around in the snow all day? Yes, that feeling is hunger!!
Since we were dressed in snow pants and looked freshly windblown, we stopped by a quick and easy place for lunch, but honestly it was my favorite meal of the whole trip! The Lost Cajun warmed me from the inside out. I’m fairly certain it was the best gumbo I’ve ever had (not pictured because I inhaled it so quickly).
Also, I could have eaten about 20 of their beignet…
There is so much to do and see in Breckenridge. From skiing, to snowshoeing and dog sledding, we have already decided we are going back next year!
I wouldn’t recommend the snowshoeing from Breckenridge Nordic Center (it was a bit novice for my liking). But if you’re a skier, hit up peak 8 and 9! Followed by cups and cups of hot cocoa!
I hope you all had a great long weekend :) I won’t lie though, I’m happy to be back in the warm Florida weather!
