After a bit of a lull during vacation two weeks ago, I’m back on my reading binge!
My poor bookshelf has been overflowing for months, begging me to ditch the audio book and pick up a real book instead.
This month, I’m finally giving in to those neglected paperback/hardback books and trying to stick to actually reading (instead of listening) to all 4 of these … we’ll see how that goes…
Here are the 4 books I have lined up to read:
Euphoria by Lily King – I am actually halfway through this book already, and to be honest it’s not what I expected at all! Not bad, just a totally different setting and character dynamic than I have ever read before. I almost feel I’m back in anthropology class. My boss had given me the book (along with raving reviews of it) after she read it for her book club so I have high hopes!
Don’t Worry, It Gets Worse by Alida Nugent – One night as I was surfing GoodReads for a new book while sipping on a glass of wine (or two), killing time as the boyfriend was in class, and I came across this book. I’m usually pretty picky about “self help” books, but for some reason this one hooked me! After preview reading the first chapter for free (and having an extra glass of wine in the process) I decided I had to read more and bought the book. We shall soon see if it really is a great read, or if my wine colored goggles just made me believe that.
Girl at War by Sara Nović – It just literally appeared on the Skimm this morning and I have already ordered it on Amazon. As you know, I am a bit obsessed with Skimm reads… even if sometimes they lead me astray.
Pretty Happy by Kate G. Hudson – This is our most recent pick for book club. After reading this dud last month we decided we needed to completely switch genres! I’d say this was a pretty big switch from the ordinary book club read. I’m not obsessed with Kate Hudson like some people but have heard some great things about this book, so (embarrassingly enough) I’m actually pretty excited to give it a read!
Have you read any of these four books? What’s on your nightstand to read?
